If you are facing problem to read and/or write Bangla in BdFISH Bangla pages, you don’t have the necessary Bangla setup installed in your computer. Please follow the following simple steps to configure you operating system and browsers settings for reading and/or writing Bangla. All steps are very very important to read and/or write Bangla in BdFISH Bangla pages as well as others writing/reading software.

 

Step-1: Configuring Windows XP
 

Materials:

You need Windows Xp CD to complete installing of the necessary system files. If you have no Windows CD,  you may download Complex Script Installer 2.0.0 from any one of the following links- Link-1, Liink-2, , Liink-3.

 

Methods:

  • Go to Control Panel then run Regional and Language Options

  • In the Language tab, select Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages (including Thai)

 

Step-2: Installing Unicode based Bangla Font

 

Materials:

 

If you have no installed Unicode based Bangla font you need to install at least any one Unicode based Bangla Font. Before that, you need to collect this types of Bangla fonts. You may download Siyam Rupali or Solaiman Lipi or AdorshoLipi. Also you may download more Bangla fonts from any one of the links here- Links-1, Links-2, Link-3, Link-4, Link-5, Link-6, Link-7, Link-8.

 

Methods:

  • Go to Control Panel then run Fonts

  • In the File menu from menu bar, select Install New Fonts….

  • In the Adds Fonts listing your required fonts from appropriate folders, select all fonts then click OK

 

Step-3: To setup  your browser

 

Internet Explorer

  • Rum Internet Explorer, go to Tools menu from menu bar,  then select Internet Options

  • On General Tab click Fonts (in below)

  • From the drop down box of Language Script select Bengali

  • Select your preferred Unicode Bangla font then click Ok

  • Go to view menu from menu bar and set the “character encoding” or “encoding” feature to: Unicode (UTF-8)

 

Mozilla Firefox

  • Run Mozilla Firefox, go Tools menu from menu bar, then select Options

  • On Options window, click Contents Tab

  • Select Advanced (just right of Fonts & Colors)

  • Select Bengali on the drop down list of Fonts For, then select any Unicode Bangla font (as you choice) for ‘serif’, ‘sans-serif’ and ‘monospace’. ‘proportional’ will stayed as default (serif), then select font size from the dropdown list box of size, then click OK

  • Go to view menu from menu bar and set the “character encoding” or “encoding” feature to: Unicode (UTF-8)

 

Step-4: Installing Unicode based Bangla Typing Software

 

After completion of step-1 to 3, you are ready to proper display of Bangla wittings on your web browsers.

If you type or compose with Unicode based Bangla on MS Word, MS FrontPage, MS Notepad, Email compose box, Comments box on blogs etc., you need a Unicode based Bangla typing software. You may use Avro keyboard. You may download this software from any one of the following links. For standard edition- Link-1, Link-2, Link-3, Link-4. For portable edition- Link-1, Link-2, Link-3, Link-4.

 

You are ready to read and/or write Unicode based Bangla on your browse or any other writing and reading software. Also you need to convert your old Bangla document to Unicode based Bangla document. You may use online converter from here or here or here. You also use Avro Converter for serving this purpose.
